Maybe Apple let the user decide whether to pay for iWork EITHER: • to encourage folks to upgrade to Mqvericks -OR- • to discourage other folks (who can) from working on keygen's or whatever it might take to install such programs without paying for them. I know it would be stretching things to suggest that Apple would care about folks who can't afford to buy their software, in this way, but we can hope. Lets not jump to conclusion about people making purchases about apple computers. I will always remember my first mac was a hand me down, i didnt want to 'invest' any money into the machine until i fully understood it and once converted, only then did i buy my first software. As you know software downloads are linked to apple ID, therefore it isnt impossible to say that someone may be experimenting. Of course if you go out to buy a brand new mac and then skimp on a sub $100 software purchase, i say thats pretty low.
