Whie searching for a decoder for a particular mode (that is only commercially available so it seems) I came across this decoding software and decided to give it a try. Apparently it is abandonware or a part of a formally commercial software company that is no longer in business. So I'm not going to worry too much about copyright issues since there is no one to raise a stink anymore. When up and running I can get the spectrograph showing well, selecting an appropriate mode with good known signal from SDR#/Funcube Pro+, the yellow bandwidth markers come up, the selected mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, but no further screen appears as shown in your installation & running document. I have done some research. I am not certain about all the details, but this is what I think happened: Sourcerer revolves around Jim and Kinga Kilgallen. First Jim made Monteria LLC which sold a similar s/w product. General Dynamics purchased Monteria around 2007. Most Monteria employees were not happy at General Dynamics and quit within a year. Then Jim made Avonlea – another company, which made Sorcerer. Sourcerer was very similar to the Monteria product and employed the same people, but it was a completely new implementation/coding.
Avonlea shutdown within a year or two Avonlea shut down around 2009. Most likely General Dynamics was upset that General Dynamics purchased Monteria from Jim for this product, and then within a year Jim hired back the same people to form a new company called Avonlea which produced a a similar product called sorcerer.
This probably violated legal agreements and is why Avonlea shutdown. Years later, after the legal agreements expired, Jim formed another company called ComInt Consulting which developed a very similar product called Krypto500.
“Sorcerer” was a registered trademark of General Dynamics – which I think expired in 2014. This indicates a lack of interest in Sorcerer by General Dynamics. Sorcerer is probably still owned by General Dynamics. I would hate to get their lawyers angry at me.
