Audi MMI 2G maps update • Open your cars trunk and locate navigation DVD drive. It can be under the trunk floor or on the side, hidden behind trunk trim. • Press “eject” and take out old navigation DVD. • Insert new disk. • Turn the ignition on and wait for the new disk to be recognized by Audi MMI 2G system. Install?”), confirm that you want to update navigation database. • Wait couple minutes for the software to be installed. • When update is complete, press RETURN to reboot Audi MMI 2G system. Now your navigation maps are up to date.
This question is a bit of an FAQ! There is a recent thread on this - If it's a company car, ask your company if they will retrofit. If you need to do it yourself, the costs are mentioned in the above link. If you go the eBay route and get a dealer to activate please post back on here how much it cost - many will be interested. To be honest, unless you want to use it a lot it's probably better and certainly more economical to just buy a sat nav and stick it on the windscreen. That's what I do.

Slightly off topic, but even with the MMI+ (Plus) Audi Connect system I was surprised that the myaudi website that you can download map updates from don't even freaking work. Audi Connect mobile App for Android is Asstastic, the preview pic of the app on Google Play show features like Remote Unlock, etc. I update my Audi Connect mobile App and it's worse than before, there's no remote unlock, and the map location search barely functions, freezes constantly and it acts like it can beam a destination to your car, but when you login to the Audi Connect from the MMI in the car, the destination you just beamed to the car doesn't even list. Audi Technology is like 1980s at best. They really need to outsource their technology to Apple, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Tesla, somebody else.
